Most of you may not know that today is Bastille Day, but being a Francophile myself, I thought I’d take a moment to highlight the holiday with an ode to French style. Paris is one of those places that I knew I would be completely enchanted by before I even made it there, and French style is something I have coveted for years but have still not managed to replicate. The secret insouciance of French women eludes me, but I still try. It amazed me when I was there how simple it was for women to just twist their hair up into a knot, slip into a simple black ensemble and top it off with an easy scarf and look positively magnifique! So when trying to emulate that certain chic Parisian effortlessness, I throw on a perfectly worn in white tee, a pair of denim cutoffs (I had to throw something all-American into the mix), some red ballerina flats, a simple black bag and delicate accessories, and toss on a Breton striped scarf and voila! My sartorial love letter to Paris is complete.
And with that, I’ll shuffle out the door to grab a baguette, some cheese and red wine to have my own mini French film festival at home! Bon journee!
